Plenty of ad reports look impressive: thousands of impressions, hundreds of clicks, a healthy click-through rate. None of that tells you whether the campaign made money.
Decide what counts as a result
For most service businesses, a real result is a phone call over a certain length, a submitted form, a booked appointment, and ultimately a paying customer. Define these before you spend a dollar.
Track calls, not just forms
Many customers call instead of filling in a form. Call tracking numbers attribute each call to the campaign, keyword or ad that produced it.
Connect ads to your bookings
When a lead books on your calendar or becomes a customer in your CRM, that outcome should be tied back to its source. That's how you see cost per booked job instead of cost per click.
Use dedicated landing pages
Sending ad traffic to your homepage makes tracking harder and conversions lower. A focused landing page for each campaign does both jobs better.
Review and cut regularly
Every few weeks, look at which campaigns and keywords produce booked work. Put more budget there and pause what doesn't.
When every dollar is traced to an outcome, ads stop being a gamble and become a decision.
